Atlantic Salmon
Is it legal to catch atlantic salmon using artificial lures or do you have to use flies?
That would depend on where exactly you where fishing.
On certain rivers some parts are fly only, whilst others will allow mixed methods.
You should also consider that you may have to pay to fish certain parts of the river as they are very often owned by someone, if they are productive areas the cost may go up.
You will also need a license and barbless hooks are a good idea, also catch and release is vital, those salmon will be spawning.
Its vital to play the fish in quickly and release them quickly, they need to conserve as much energy as possible to travel against the flow of the water.
They don't feed whilst traveling to spawn so playing them quickly and releasing them quickly is vital.
